'Family' Jo Hess sculpture unveiling event

In the early 1990’s Jo was commissioned by the Mobile Regional Airport Authority to create a sculpture to symbolize the warmth and friendliness of the city. Jo chose to do this by creating a three-figure (life size) sculpture of a family getting ready to take a trip. They are dressed in comfortable, casual clothes, and their little boy is visibly excited about traveling. He carries a model airplane in his hand, and is urging his parents forward.

Enjoy memories of the evening below.
